About Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty (cosmetic nasal surgery), in my opinion, is truly an art form within the field of Plastic Surgery.
Given the various techniques that we have within our skill set as plastic surgeons, it is amazing the types of dramatic changes that can be achieved.
Whether you want your nose narrower, the “bump” softened, the tip more defined, or a drooping tip rotated slightly upward, all of these can be executed with precision. Meticulous preoperative evaluation and attention to surgical detail are of paramount importance in a Newport Beach rhinoplasty.
For a thorough and in depth evaluation with Dr. Ambe, request your Newport Beach rhinoplasty consultation now using our online form and Newport Beach Plastic Surgery will contact you directly, or you may call our Southern California plastic surgery center directly at (949) 759-5539.
What to Expect
Rhinoplasty, a surgery to reshape the nose, is one of the most common of all plastic surgery procedures for patients across the country, as well as Newport Beach. Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and your upper lip. It may also correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve some breathing problems.

It may also correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve some breathing problems.
There are several surgeons that perform a nose surgery by making their incisions inside the nostrils. There are also those that prefer making a minor incision along the vertical tissue between the nostrils, otherwise known as the columella. This is more of an “open” procedure, which is good for especially complicated cases. Newport Beach rhinoplasty patients can feel confident that their surgeon will help choose the right procedure, depending on each individual’s physical needs and aesthetic desires.
In order to maintain the new shape of the nose after the surgery is completed, the surgeon will apply a splint. The dividing wall between the air passages, otherwise known as the septum, may require soft plastic splints or nasal packs within the nostrils.
Recovering from Surgery
During the first 24 hours after your nose surgery, you may suffer from a small headache, an aching nose, and a puffy appearance on your face. By using pain medication that your surgeon prescribes, you will be able to control these discomforts. Be prepared to stay in bed during the course of the first day, keeping your head elevated.
Over the course of two or three days, you will likely notice some bruising or swelling around your eyes. You can feel better and reduce the swelling by putting on cold compresses. You will still see bruising and swelling for two weeks, but they will all but disappear by the end of this time period. It is possible that you and your surgeon will notice some subtle swelling, but in general, it is unnoticeable.
It is common to feel like your nose is stuffy for a few weeks, as well as noticing minor bleeding during the first few days. In order to allow the healing to go smoothly, you will have to avoid blowing your nose for a little more than a week.
Nasal packs will be removed after a couple of days, allowing you to feel more comfortable. Within the course of one week, or a maximum of two weeks, all stitches, splints, and dressings will be removed.

Turn the Clock Back
After being chosen by Tamra Judge, one of the Real Housewives of Orange County, for a breast augmentation in Season 3, Dr. Ambe was chosen once again to perform a facelift – except this time on her mother. Tamra and her mother, Sandra Baker, ultimately chose Dr. Ambe due to his reputation as one of the best facelift surgeons in Newport Beach/Orange County and one that specializes in very natural facelift results. After her incredible results last season, Tamra knew that Dr. Ambe would give her mother the perfect “turn the clock back” look she desired.
